The Daily Prayer

I thank God for this day
The chance to breathe again
And look at the Sun

To laugh with people
To see, and understand, and rejoice

I thank God that I can will my own actions
That I can direct it to great effect
Held back only by the limits of my imagination
And the limits of my courage

I thank God that I can laugh
At the tragedy that is life
At the tragedy that is a comedy
If I but choose to laugh

Help me understand your laws
Your laws of Nature
Of mice and men
Of planets and stars

Help me build something from nothing, like how you
built us from dirt

I am made in your image, God
Grant me the wisdom

To understand
with humility

To lead
with humility

To conquer
with humility

I am made in your image, God
And I will do great things through you
